How things are normally done, what? Done where?
What’s the “Norm”? Norm core, “That’s so Norm Core” something pretentious people say about those of us “normal” ones in the world.. Now I don’t really like that, because the motives are so, well, ugly. HOWEVER I have been thinking about this whole “Blogging” venture. And after a short while I think I have picked up a few tidbits of knowledge about what I am trying to show here, and why I don’t really fit into how things are normally done…
Everyone once in a while an athlete, musician, public figure, comes along and helps shift how something was “normally” done. Wayne Gretzky, The Beatles, Martin Luther King Jr. To name a few that impacted their spheres of influence. Now blogging isn’t really on that scale, possibly, but there is a definite sphere of influence, and validity it holds in the “normal” world today! To let you non-bloggers know, hundreds of millions a day read blogs.
Anyone that follows my photos, and the crazy stories I tell with them knows what I bring into the world of photography. But if you don’t know me let me explain. A couple of years ago I decided to start posting my photos on Google+. “Normally” I saw photos being posted with all the numbers, times, procedures, of how that photo was created. Which is awesome! I really appreciate people sharing that, and I will too if asked for it! But I didn’t feel it was what I was supposed to be all about. So I had a choice to make. Do I just conform to how this is being done, because “this is how it’s done” or do I try something new? It was a hard question to answer, cause I had never seen anyone else answer it! It just isn’t how things are normally done!
Now over 600 photos later, 20,000+ followers and over 200 MILLION views of those photos, it’s safe to say that I forged a path in an already thriving sphere! Let me also add that I FULLY give the credit God who has graced me with this creative “thing”… As strange as it is at times… Cause honestly people, I’m really not that intelligent.
I am NOT saying I am the Wayne Gretzky of blogging… But what I am saying is that I am uninterested in striving toward any sort of recognition, fame, or even monetary return! Though I would gladly accept any of the last one… But I didn’t start this to MAKE MONEY! There are over 4 million bloggers out there that are going to do this stuff a lot more efficiently than I am. Pros that have more than just a handle on this sphere! But I can’t give myself to that, I don’t feel I am allowed to!
So then what? Well what I have discovered is that this is meant to be a further extension of what was uncovered in me when I started posting photos 2 years ago! And that is simply, ALL! If this is just a deeper lesson in diligence, so be it! If this is just another level of learning to write, fine! If this is just another step in the ladder, ok! I’m in. But know this, it’s open season, here I come.
From this point forward anything funny, serious, informative, even a product review could be a total mess! It doesn’t even matter, cause I am more interested in releasing my full heart to all of, well the internet I guess… That being said I am NOT a rebel, and I don’t want to be! I just feel that, “how things are normally done” I’m not supposed to do, so I have to forge another path. I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to lose. And if you want to get on the ride, let’s go!
This is the second time I wrote this actually, my computer froze the first time, and I had to re-write it, OK THEN! Maybe the first time wasn’t how it was supposed to be said. So here it is laid out.
What I really wonder is if I should call this a blof because it’s a blog and I like to make people laugh, blof, or maybe blaf works better… Anyway, this shouldn’t offend you, if it does, it just means you are holding too tightly to something you are afraid to lose. This is really supposed to offend ME, cause as much as I TRY to be famous now, I always have to look back to this post and realise that isn’t why I am here.
