Night Shots from Jasper National Park!
I love the mountains! Like a lot! And Jasper National park is my favorite place to be in the mountains, not only that but it is an INCREDIBLE place to gather some unreal night shots! This last trip I took at the beginning of March 2016, has produced some of my best night shots to date!
Getting some awesome night shots will depend on a number of variables, camera, skill, time are a few big ones, but the biggest factor is location. You really need a dark sky, and Jasper National Park is a dark one! Jasper has been deemed a dark sky preserve meaning it has limited artificial light as to enhance the visibility of the stars! A helpful tool (if you live in NA) to see where you need to go for a dark sky is RIGHT HERE – bookmark it as it is very helpful.
Another helpful tool is an app called Stellarium – This is a sky simulator and will help you figure out where to look, and also where the moon is (which can mess up the darkness of your night shots).
As for the gear and skills I can help you there, read these articles about night photography!
Below are some of the great night shots I managed to collect this time around in Jasper. Remember each one of these photos are available for purchase for as little as 99 cents! And you can see the full gallery of my Jasper Photos Here.
I will be in Banff National Park for a week starting April 4th, and plan on getting A LOT of photos! As all these night shots were taken in one night! So stay tuned to Lights, Camera, DAD!! There are a lot of new and exciting adventures I am about to go on!
And if you are looking for some of my other photos be sure to check out the Gallery!
