The feeding Program is always a highlight.
Imagine 100 screaming children, OK wait don’t imagine that, that’s horrible. Imagine 100 HAPPY screaming children! Why are they happy? Largely because a few people take a bit of time to spend with them each week. Pretty simple really. I was recently in Guatemala, read Part one, and Two of the trip. A great highlight last year for me, and again this year, was the feeding program that Fe Viva World Missions staff facilitate to local schools. Today find out what we did to add to the commotion and how you can still help the people of Guatemala!
The children of Guatemala have to be the best part for me. They love meeting people, so freely they welcome visitors, I know a few people on the team seriously wanted to bring them all home with them. It’s cool seeing a society that a ball will still provide hours of entertainment. And a travelling road show can make some kids, so happy.
The team that came down were of all ages, but all jumped into the show. Dramas, talking, an epic beat box battle that included a 67 year old woman, were parts of the show, and the kids absolutely loved it.
Fe Viva staff come to a number of schools once a week to provide students with a healthy hot lunch, for many, if not most of them, it will be the best meal they have all week long. It really is awesome to see.
However what I find so great is the relationships that are being built. Each week the kids get to see that “Hey, someone cares about me.” Now not ALL kids live in bad family settings, but many do. And kids still need many inspiring role models to help them develop into tremendous adults. And what I have witnessed is that very thing taking place.
I cannot explain how well the team of Fe Viva gives of what they have, physically, emotionally, spiritually. And you can just see how the kids absolutely love them. Our team of Canadians had a great time there. But we come once and are gone. The people that have decided to live their lives serving Guatemala are tremendous, and will always appreciate support.
So take a look if you have not already at the Fe Viva website and consider sending support to the feeding program!
